Ian R. Fisher
Ian was called to the bar in 1971 after receiving his legal education at the University of Western Ontario. He has practised family law exclusively for over 30 years and has extensive experience in both negotiating family law issues and resolving those issues, if necessary, in the trial and appellate courts of Ontario.
Ian’s family law practice involves the resolution of disputes concerning separation, divorce, custody, spousal support, child support, and property division. He endorses the concept of mediation and acts as a mediator in matrimonial matters. If issues cannot be resolved without litigation, Ian’s experience as a trial lawyer enables him to provide clients with effective representation in court proceedings.
Ian has been certified by the Law Society of Upper Canada as a specialist in family law since 1990. He was a member of the Law Society’s inaugural family law specialization committee and has been an instructor in family law in the bar admission course.
For several years, Ian has been selected by his peers for inclusion in Best Lawyers in Canada and was honoured as the recipient of the Best Lawyers’ Family Law Lawyer of the Year award for London/Windsor in 2012. Ian is also recognized by Lexpert as a ‘repeatedly recommended’ leading practitioner of family law.
